FC Barcelona Stadium

Today I finally went to the FC Barcelona stadium, Camp Nou.  I have now completed everything on my Barcelona bucket list of places to see!  The other day I gave a Spanish presentation about the team and it's history - it's actually really interesting!

Now I just need to meet my lover Piqué.

Happy 4th of July!

Celebrating at George Payne's - along with every other American in Barcelona.

A Night Out At The W

Friends studying in Florence this summer were in town this weekend, and so we all went to Attic, a nice terrace-top restaurant on Las Ramblas, for dinner and then went to The W Hotel for a drink!  The bar in The W is on the 26th floor and has a really nice view of the Barceloneta Beach.  I have been dying to go this entire trip, so it was fun to go with our special visitors!

Another Day Trip to Sitges.

On Saturday Emily, Camille, Torrey (visiting from Florence!), CJ, and I went to Sitges.  We love it there.  We stopped by the same cute sandwich shop (Luka) Emily, Camille, CJ, and Aly ate at the last time we were there.  I got a chicken and mango sandwich with cashews - it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.  I'm going to try to recreate it when I'm home.

 Yummy muffin from Luka!
Can you tell I really like my cuisine app on my camera?

Ice Bar

Last Thursday a group of us went to a bar on the beach that was made of ice.  It was so cool, but so cold!  I wore flip-flops and only lasted about 15 minutes in the bar...but it was worth it!

Right before we went into the -12 degrees!

More Pictures

I've posted a lot of pictures of places, so here are some with friends!  Enjoy!
Princesa Z3 in El Born.

Pyramid in the metro.

At the absinthe bar - Bar Marsella.

Rosa Negra - Mexican food!

People in Europe

I have started taking pictures of the people I see around town.  Europe is the best place to people watch.  The hair is just AWFUL - Prague was probably the best place for the worst hair, although rat-tail dreads seem to be a cool thing to do in Barcelona...

I will take more good ones!!

The W

Today we decided to rent bikes and ride around the city.  Our first stop was the W.  I am dying to go to the W's pool or bar before I leave.  It's just looks so fun!

Montserrat

Saturday Camille, Aly, CJ and I went on a day trip to Montserrat, a monastery in the mountains just outside of Barcelona.  Being in the mountains made me miss Colorado.  We hiked to the tallest part of the monastery and got to see some great views of the surrounding land.

San Joan

Thursday I stayed up all night on the beach for the big San Joan celebration.  Camille and I got home Friday morning at 7:45 - yikes.

We made mojitos before we headed to the beach.  Camille and I had to buy two mint plants because we couldn't find any stores with mint leaves.

 Sunrise on the beach!

I got up at 3:00PM and met everyone at Milk for its "Recovery Brunch."

The best tasting omelet ever made.   Feta with peppers and sun dried tomatoes.

After brunch we saw The Hangover II.  Camille and I had dinner with our Señora (I had to eat a tuna pasta salad - it was pretty rough).   We met Caroline, Aly and Emily at a fun sushi spot then walked around El Born with yummy gelato.  It was a great start to the weekend!

Two Days in Sevilla

We were in Sevilla Saturday-Monday.  We got a really nice apartment on booking.com for super cheap.  It was a 30 second walk to the Cathedral - such a good location!

Saturday we got a paddle boat and went along the river for an hour.  After this summer, I want to have a paddle boat and a river near me at all times.

Saturday night was saw a flamenco dance at a local bar.  It was a lot different than what I expected, but I liked it because it was obvious it was the real deal in Sevilla.

Sunday we explored the city, including the Alcazar Gardens.

Sunday night we saw a bull fight...and I got teary-eyed after the first bull.  I (think) I'm glad I went because bull fighting is such a part of the culture, but it was really rough to watch.  I think I had my eyes closed at least half of the time.  We left early...

Aly and I sad watching.

After the bull fight, we headed to Hotel Eme, a high-end hotel with a cool roof-top terrace that looks over the Castle.

Monday we walked to the Plaza de España before we took off for the airport.

I have loved everywhere I've been!  I'm glad I'm seeing the smaller towns in Spain because I don't know if I would travel back to Europe just to see the small towns no one really talks about.  This upcoming weekend I am staying in Barcelona for the San Juan Festival!  I'll be sure to post all about it.

Alhambra!

Friday Aly, Camille, Caroline, Mary and I flew to Sevilla, Spain, then hopped on a bus to Granada, Spain. We set our stuff down in our hostel (my first hostel experience - ah!) and set out to The Alhambra.  We were nervous we weren't going to be able to see everything because we arrived later in the day, but we had the greatest time.  The weather wasn't too miserably hot and we avoided the day's huge crowd.
