Rainy in Barcelona

It's supposed to rain all week in Barcelona.  Booo.

Yesterday was the only nice day of the week.  Instead of going to the beach with all of our friends, Aly and I had class for six hours because we had to make up a Spanish class that our teacher is missing for a conference.  Not fair.  After class we treated ourselves to a very small shopping spree at H&M and Zara, then went inside the Sagrada Familia.  It is amazing!  I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished - sometime in 2020s I think?!  On the Fat Tire Bike Tour, the guides explained the history behind Sagrada Familia.  Hopefully I'm getting this right...Gaudi died before the Sagrada Familia was completed (obviously).  Apparently all of the plans for the church were destroyed in a fire started by a group who didn't agree with Gaudi and his beliefs.  Another architect is trying to replicate Gaudi's plans for the Sagrada Familia based on some old sketchings.  (Don't trust me on this one - very interesting though!)

Last night we all went to Dow Jones.  It's a fun bar where tons of American abroad students hangout.  Every 15-30 minutes, the stock market crashes, meaning most all of the drink prices go down.  Sometimes the drink prices just stay even, or even increase.  We headed to a club called Boulevard after Dow Jones and danced for a couple of songs before we called it a night.

Today was nice while I was in class, and then rainy when I got done with lunch (of course).  Camille and I went to Luna de Istanbul again.  This time I got a durum kebab - soooooo good.  I could eat there everyday.  We are already BFFs with the waitress and kitchen crew.  After lunch, we decided to walk around aimlessly and explore Barcelona.  Right away, we ran into some cute shops and a tasty smoothy bar that was handing out free samples.  Our adventure ended at La Catedral where there were a ton of antique vendors set up in the plaza.  Camille bought a 1930 newspaper with a fun picture of a girl holding a hug drinking glass.  And then the torrential downpour began...
